Year 6 Leavers’ Disco
Fri 03 Jul 2026On Tuesday 14th July, we will be holding our annual Year 6 Leavers’ Disco. It will take place from 5.00pm – 7.00pm and will include a buffet and disco.
Due to the disco finishing late, all children will need to be collected by an adult (18 years old or over) at 7.00pm prompt. The cost of the event is £5.00 to help to pay for the disco and food. Please note mobile phones are not allowed.
Please go to Parent Mail to complete the consent form (which can be found in the forms section) and please go to the payment section to purchase your child’s ticket.

PSHE/ RSE Consultation
Fri 03 Jul 2026Further to last week’s parent consultation meeting, I would just like to confirm that school will be following the most recent government guidance with regards PSHE and RSE. Our scheme has been updated in line with this guidance, and we will continue to send out half termly updates advising you of what will be covered in the upcoming weeks. As ever, if you have any concerns, please contact school and we will be happy to provide clarity and reassurance.

School Meals/Universal Credit/Free School Meals
Fri 03 Jul 2026From September, the children on school dinners going into Year 3 will need to start paying for them. The price for school dinners will be going up to £3.20 per day.
If you are in receipt of Universal Credit you may be entitled to free school meals. Please apply on the Rochdale council website to check if you are eligible: Apply for free school meals | Free school meals | Rochdale Borough Council

HIRB Sealife
Fri 03 Jul 2026The HIRB visited Sealife Manchester as part of their English unit on sea animals. The children explored the habitats and behaviours of a range of sea creatures. They especially loved stroking the chocolate chip starfish and finding a hermit crab!

Year Group Focus—Year 1
Fri 26 Jun 2026Year 1 have been very busy in this summer term, as well as completing the phonics screening check which the results will be shared in your child’s end of year report, they have also been completing lots of work.
As part of our science topic of seasons and identifying trees and plants in science, 1A were fortunate to go to forest school. The children were very well behaved and kept each other safe by following instructions and looking after their partner. The children were surprised to see how close it was to school. We studied the different trees, used identification sheets to identify the trees, studied signs of the different seasons and some of us were really lucky to see a deer who had come to see what we were up to! Hopefully 1B can experience this also this week, weather permitting.
In computing, the children have become computer programmers and have built on our previous learning programming a robot. This term they have been using Scratch Junior to create codes for the sprite to move. They have understood the different blocks that can be used, have been creating an algorithm while also learning to debug and fix mistakes. This has been a very popular topic!
In DT this half term the children are designing and making a fruit kebab. They have already enjoyed tasting lots of new fruits, some which were more popular than others. They will then design what their fruit kebab will look like, make it and eat it!
