School Meals/Universal Credit/Free School Meals
Fri 26 Jun 2026From September the children on school dinners going into Year 3 will need to start paying for them. The price for school dinners will be going up to £3.20.
If you are in receipt of Universal Credit you may be entitled to free school meals. Please apply on the Rochdale council website to check if you are eligible.

Dodgeball Competition
Fri 26 Jun 2026On Wednesday 1st July Year 1-6 will be taking part in a dodgeball competition. Children will need to come in their PE kit on this day.

Year 6 Leavers’ Disco
Fri 26 Jun 2026On Tuesday 14th July, we will be holding our annual Year 6 Leavers’ Disco. It will take place from 5.00pm – 7.00pm and will include a buffet and disco.
Due to the disco finishing late, all children will need to be collected by an adult (18 years old or over) at 7.00pm prompt. The cost of the event is £5.00 to help to pay for the disco and food. Please note mobile phones are not allowed.
Please go to Parent Mail to complete the consent form (which can be found in the forms section) and please go to the payment section to purchase your child’s ticket.

Residential 2027
Fri 26 Jun 2026The next instalment of £10 for the Residential visit is due on Tuesday 30th June. This can be paid on parent mail or cash at the office.

Sports Days
Fri 26 Jun 2026This year, weather permitting, our sports days will be on the following dates and times:
· Monday 29th June
Reception A and Morning Nursery 9.30am—10.30am
Reception B and Afternoon Nursery 1.30pm-2.30pm
· Tuesday 30th June at 1.30pm-2.30pm: Year 1 and 2
· Thursday 2nd July at 1.30pm-2.30pm: Year 3 and 4
· Friday 3rd July at 1.30pm-2.30pm: Year 5 and 6
Your child will need to come to school on their Sports Day, in addition to their PE day, in their outdoor PE kit, including trainers. If the weather is still hot, please ensure your child has sun cream on (to be applied at home before the start of school), a hat and a water bottle. Parents/carers are welcome to attend.
The sports days will take place on the MUGAs and parents will be able to watch from the field, and will be able to access school by the gate at the bottom of the field. Unfortunately, due to safeguarding reasons, parents will not be able to access the school building during these events unless they go to the school foyer.

Fantastic Achievements
Fri 26 Jun 2026Over the weekend Anayah completed hiking up Snowdonia. Well done Anayah!
As part of his geography homework on volcanoes and earthquakes, Jacob has created an impressive volcano model using clay. He carefully shaped and painted the volcano, showing the lava flowing from the top . His hard work and enthusiasm for learning were evident in the finished model, making it an excellent example of bringing geography to life. The children had lots of fun recreating a volcanic eruption using Coke and Mentos that were brought in by Jacob!

Year Group Focus—Reception
Fri 19 Jun 2026The Reception children have had a wonderful time in our role play areas over the last few weeks. Last half term we had ‘Marland Hill Clothes and Shoe Shop.’ Some of the children loved working on the cash desk and serving customers, whilst others loved dressing up and putting together their own outfits. As you can see some of our children have a real eye for fashion!
To link in with our new topic ‘All Around the World’ the role play area has now transformed into ‘Marland Hill Travel Agents.’ The children have enjoyed looking at the maps and holiday brochures and booking their summer holidays. Our travel agents have been very helpful with their holiday advice and have demonstrated a good awareness of the world and some countries. So far in this topic we have looked at the country of Pakistan as a contrasting location to the United Kingdom, and we read the story Handa’s Surprise. During this week we got to try all the different fruit that Handa put in her basket for her friend Akeyo. Last week we looked at the country of Kenya to link in with our story ‘Handa’s Hen’ by the author Eileen Brown. This week we are looking at Australia to link in with our story ‘The Koala Who Could’ by the author Rachel Bright.
The children have also been enjoying time in our outdoor area, serving ice-cream in the ice cream parlour, playing on the bikes and splashing in the puddles.
