Starbooks Reader - Winners!

The following children have been awarded ‘Star Reader’ and enjoyed going to the ‘Starbooks’ cafe in the library to enjoy a drink and a treat as their reward. Fantastic!

At Marland Hill Community Primary School, we are committed to supporting our local community. We know that many families face challenges, and we want to do our part to help those in need. Rochdale Foodbank has reported a high demand for food support which is why we are asking for donations of cans, bottles and dried food on Thursday 12th March.

We understand not everyone will be in a position to donate, but we appreciate any donations we receive.

Please send in any donations with your child to their classroom on Thursday 12th March.

Reception Smithills Farm

On Monday 30^th March, our Reception classes will be visiting Smithills Farm in Bolton where they will be looking at animal families and the changes they go through as they grow. The children will have the opportunity to handle and feed many of the animals and as a special treat they will be able to ride on a donkey and travel around the farm on a tractor trailer.

All children must wear school uniform on the school trip and please ensure your child is wearing appropriate shoes, coat, hat, sun cream etc. according to the weather.

The cost of the trip will be £12 per child. This is a voluntary contribution towards the cost of the visit and transport, however if there is not enough money collected the trip will be cancelled. This cost of the trip has been heavily subsidised by school.

Year 6 Imperial War Museum

As part of their History topic, Year 6 have been learning about World War 2 and will be visiting the Imperial War Museum on Wednesday 18^th March 2026.

School is subsidising the cost of the trip, but we ask for a parental contribution of £5. This is a voluntary contribution, however if we are not able to cover the cost we may need to cancel the visit.

Parents’ Meetings

This year parents’ meetings will be taking place after the end of the school day and will be held in the School Hall. In order to book an appointment you will need to go to parent mail/parent’s evening to book an appointment. Each appointment will last 10 minutes.

There will be no after school clubs taking place this week.

The parents’ meetings will be on the following dates:

Nursery: Tuesday 24^th March, Wednesday 25^th March and Thursday 26^th March.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2: Wednesday 25^th March and Thursday 26^th March.

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6: Monday 23^rd March and Tuesday 24^th March.
