Year Group Focus—Reception
Fri 19 Sep 2025The Reception children have settled into their new classes really well. They have had lots of fun exploring the indoor and outdoor learning environments. They have especially enjoyed playing in the mud kitchen and making food from their experience. They have also loved the stage area, the sand tray and playing on the climbing frame. This is helping to develop their balance, coordination and gross motor skills.
The children have loved taking on the role of a shop assistant or a customer in the Marland Hill Supermarket. They have also enjoyed taking on different family roles in the home corner. Our first topic ‘All About Me’ has been wonderful for helping the staff to get to know the children. The children have enjoyed talking about their likes and dislikes and sharing pictures of their families with their teachers and friends.

Year 5B Miss Rainbow's Class: Visit to Castleton Library
Fri 19 Sep 2025Year 5B Miss Rainbow’s class will be going to Castleton library on Monday 29th September. They will be taking part in a creative workshop. Children will be walking to and from the library. Children will be back to have their lunch in school.
Please can you ensure children bring with them their water bottle and wear appropriate footwear and a jacket prepared for all weather.
The site will also be taking photos for advertisement around the community.
Please go to parent mail and complete the consent form for your child to attend and also for their photo to be taken, which can be found in the forms section.

Reading Afternoons
Fri 19 Sep 2025The next reading workshop will be as follows:
· Friday 26th September - Year 5
· Friday 3rd October - Year 4
· Friday 10th October - Year 3
· Friday 17th October - Year 2
· Friday 24th October - Year 1
They will be taking place in the school hall 2.30pm-3pm.
Tea/Coffee will be provided.
