Some of our children had so much fun being so creative for our current weather theme. Well done! They look fantastic!
Please be advised that from the 1st September 2020 the new costs for school meals have been agreed by GFM, which will be £2.25 per day. A kind reminder that children who are currently in Year 2 and will be moving into Year 3 in September 2020 will start needing to pay for school meals as their Universal Free School Meals will end.
For those parents/carers who currently receive the free school meal vouchers, this will continue during the summer holidays. An email will be sent to those this applies to, to advise of the arrangements for this during the holiday period. Thank you for your continued support.
Many Reception Intake forms have been handed in. If you have not done so, please do so as soon as possible and ensure your child’s form and all necessary documents required are handed in accordingly.
Reception Welcome Packs for those parents/carers whose child will be starting with us in September 2020 are being prepared and you will be contacted soon to advise you on how we will get these packs to you as safely as possible. Thank you for your continued support.
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you very much for all your support over the last few months. I appreciate things have been less than straightforward for many of you, and the lockdown situation went on longer than any of us wanted it to, albeit for the right reasons to keep us safe.
Just to update you on staffing arrangements for September – again I realise that by now your child would be meeting their new teacher and classmates, and many of you will be wondering who this will be. Just to reassure you that you will be informed of your child's new class teacher over the next few days.
There are a number of staff leaving our school at the end of the academic year and I am sure that you will join me in thanking them for all the hard work and commitment they have shown to the school.
Mrs Aylott, who has been on maternity leave, has secured a part time position at a new school so that she can spend more time with her daughter. Good luck Mrs Aylott!
Miss Sharma is relocating, and has secured a new teaching position in London. Again, we wish her well at her new school.
Mrs Patton has decided to pursue a new career, and we have made the appointment of Miss Young as our Pastoral and Attendance Manager.
There are also some staff who will be beginning an exciting new stage in their lives. Mrs Carroll and Miss Wright are due to start their maternity leave over the summer. We look forward to them returning to Marland Hill soon and wish them good luck with their forthcoming new arrivals!
We will also be joined by a new member of the support staff [as well as the new teachers detailed below] – Mrs Midgely will be joining us as a TA3.

Dear parents/carers
We are looking forward to welcoming your child into our Nursery from September and have put together a welcome pack to help prepare for your child starting with us.
These can be collected from the school office this week, between the following times:
Wednesday 8th July – 9.30am to 11.00am & 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Thursday 9th July – 9.30am to 11.00am & 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Friday 10th July – 9.30am to 11.00am & 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Please don’t come to the office outside of these times and be aware that we can currently only allow 1 parent into the foyer at a time, so you may have to queue outside the main entrance using the 2 metre distance markings clearly displayed. We will deal with each parent as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience if you are required to wait.
Reports this year will look slightly different to previous years. We have been out of school for a significant amount of time now, which obviously impacts on the coverage of this year’s curriculum. Please be reassured, we are fully aware of this and will adapt our teaching accordantly next year, in line with Government guidelines, as well as recognising that our children will need supporting back into school.
This year’s reports do not contain attainment and progress data– to include this information would not be an accurate picture due to the amount of time missed due to lockdown. Omission of this information was advised by the Government, who have informed schools there is no expectation to report on attendance information. Instead we have summarised the key areas of the curriculum, as well as your child’s attitude to learning.
We will contact parents to let you know when you will be able to collect your child’s report. Please contact school to make arrangements to discuss the report further if you wish. I am sure that you will understand that we have had to adapt our usual arrangements this year. Thank you for your continued support.
Our current topic is ‘Animals’ and some of our children got busy this week creating art work with a ‘mini beast’ theme for our displays in school.
Thank you to those parents/carers who came in with all the forms that we need for your child. We will contact you when we have more information. Thank you for your patience and understanding through this difficult time. We do look forward to welcoming you all soon.
For those children who will be starting Year 7 at Falinge Park in September, you should have received a letter from them explaining that all parents will be contacted at some point this week to arrange for a Zoom meeting with yourself and your child.
Please use this as an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and encourage your child to think about any questions they may have, to prepare them for their new school life. They will be telephoning all parents and the number will not be displayed, so please be aware of this if you have a call from a number which is not recognised.
Please can we encourage all our of Year 6 parents to regularly check the websites of your child’s new school, as we know many of them are posting transition videos and activities to help prepare children for their new environment.
