.
We have had a busy start to the half term in Year 2!
In Maths we have started our unit of work on division. We have been using resources in Maths to share objects and show our working out. We have looked at different ways to divide using different strategies and methods to give the children a wealth of knowledge. We have now started looking at how multiplication facts can help us to divide using fact families.
In History, we have started to learn all about The Great Fire of London. So far, we have learnt about how the fire started and why it spread across London. In the coming weeks we will learn about how the fire was eventually stopped and the significant people from this event.
Our Design Technology project this half term links to our History learning. We will be designing and making a fire engine. This week the children have been investigating the different axels used to make a moving mechanism.
Well Done to all Presentation Week Awards Winners!

Our nursery is full at present, but we are now taking applications for September 2024, the deadline for this is the 31st of March 2024 and applications forms are available from the office.
Please can we remind parents that due to Health and Safety reasons , children should not be bringing flasks with hot food to school.
Thank you.
Thank you for your support and understanding this week. Fortunately, the extreme weather we have recently experienced is quite rare. On occasions such as this, the site staff work incredibly hard to clear paths and walkways within school, however despite the grounds being gritted overnight, and from 6 in the morning, sometimes the temperature is just too significant for the grit to take effect in time, which is when we make the difficult decision to keep some gates closed and offer alternative routes into school.
If you have any concerns about the state of pavements outside the school grounds, these need to be addressed to the council. Could I also ask that any frustrations are expressed appropriately to school staff, with the understanding that anything outside of the school grounds is not the responsibility of the school.
Year 3 will be visiting the Manchester Museum. This is linked to their topic work on Ancient Egyptians. Mr Hudson’s class (3A) will be going on Thursday 25th January 2024. Miss Hall’s class (3B) will be going on Friday 26th January 2024.
