We will be having some upcoming Reading workshops on Mondays from 9am-9.30am in the school hall, to promote the benefits of positive reading with your child. Parents/carers are invited to attend, tea/coffee will be provided. The dates are as follows:
· Monday 14th November - Year 6
· Monday 21st November – Year 5
· Monday 28th November – Year 4
· Monday 5th December – Year 3
As a school, we are working on promoting a love of reading and it would be great to have parents as positive reading role models for the children. We hope to see as many parents as possible.
Thank you to all parents/carers and all staff for attending the parent’s meetings this week. It was really lovely to see everybody and have such a good turnout from parents and carers.
Please be aware that the school gates around school are shut and locked promptly after the doors close at 9.00am. Please make sure your child is in school on time to prevent you from being unable to leave via the back gates.
School Council members Bella, Finley, Mohammad, Lily and Aiza have made posters to promote Odd Socks Day. These fabulous posters will be displayed around school for everyone to see. We can't wait to see you in your odd socks on Monday!
As part of our English work on The Enormous Turnip, the children took a trip to Tesco to buy their own vegetables. They each had a shopping basket, shopping list and coins to select and buy their vegetables. Once we returned to school, the children worked together to wash, cut and cook their vegetables, before blending this to make vegetable soup.
Mohammad and Rumaysa represented our school and the School Council at a Remembrance service at Oulder Hill this morning. They met with year 7 History pupils who discussed the project they had been working on, as well as taking part in a ceremony to remember those who had represented their country in the wars. In respect of Remembrance Day the children at Marland Hill observed a minute's silence at 11.00am.
Next week only:
· Year 6A (Miss Bingham) and Year 6B (Miss Ashraf) will have their PE day on Friday.
· Year 5 will have their PE day on Thursday.
Please ensure you child comes in their PE kit on this day. Thank you.
This term, every week we will be looking at children’s attendance and all those children who have 100% attendance for the week will be put in to a draw to win 10 Dojos. There will be one random winner from each class. To ensure your child is entered into this weekly draw, all you have to do is make sure they are in school on time every day. Thank you for your continued support.
