Last week was Mental Health Awareness week and Mrs Biggs from the office raised over £1000 for the Mental Health Foundation by doing a skydive at 14,000 feet! The weather was perfect and, although it was scary, it was very exciting.
Please can you ensure that you apply sun cream to your child before they come to school. The children do play outside in the nice weather as well as P.E. and it is extremely important your child has the following in school during the summer season:
· Water bottle - this is very important to ensure your child does not dehydrate
· Sun cream - please apply this before coming into school
· Sun hat or cap - this is to prevent heat stroke and sunburn on the top of your child’s head
Please ensure your child comes to school every day in the correct school uniform.
P.E. kit should be plain black shorts or leggings,a plain white T-Shirt and plain trainers. There should be no coloured clothes or logos.
Please see our school uniform policy on the school website for more information.
The children will be able to come in non uniform on Friday 9th June and we will be asking for donations for Springhill Hospice in memory of Mrs Affleck.

We have a book swap in the main school reception with lots of different books that children are welcome to take home and read. If you have any books at home that you wish to swap or donate to the stall we would be very grateful. Thank you.
This week some of our children took part in a sports event at Springside special school. All the children had a really enjoyable time and took part in lots of sporting activities.
Thank you to all parents who attended the reading workshop this week.
Following the success of our reading workshops, we will be inviting parents in again to promote the benefits of positive reading with your child.
Parents/carers are invited to attend, tea/coffee will be provided. The dates are as follows:
· Monday 22nd May – Year 1
· Monday 12th June – Year 2
Sessions will run 9.00am-9.30am.
As a school, we are working on promoting a love of reading and it would be great to have parents as positive reading role models for the children. We hope to see as many parents as possible.
