  • Year Group Focus - Year 3

    Fri 17 May 2024

Once again, the children in Year 3 have been exceptionally busy over the last couple of weeks.

Last Thursday, the year group visited Martin Mere Nature Reserve to take part in the Generation Wild project. As part of the visit, the children got to explore the reserve and, as part of this, got to see some very special and often unusual looking birds. Amongst the animals that the children got close to were flamingos, cranes and even a pair of friendly otters. In addition to this, the children were also given a number of tasks to complete by Ava, the main character of the story Ava's Destiny, which the children read prior to the visit. These tasks involved gathering and sharing information about a number of species of animals and plants in order to get Ava to a meeting of The Guardians of the Wild. Safe to say that all of the children had an amazing day, helped by the fact that the sun was shining and the sky was blue throughout.

In science , Year 3 have been investigating light. This week the children used mirrors to write secret messages and to walk on a wiggly line. They have learnt that a mirror will flip the image making it difficult to walk on the line. Who knew!
