Talking to your child about safer strangers

When you are outside of your house there are lots of people. People you do not know are called strangers. Not all strangers are nice and you cannot tell if somebody is nice by how they look.

If somebody you are not expecting to asks you to go with them never go with them, and go and tell an adult.

If you are lost or scared look for a safer adult stranger.

Who is a safer adult stranger? A parent/ carer, a police officer, a doctor, a teacher are all examples of safer strangers

If you cannot find a safer stranger look for a safer building you can go in to which may have safer adult strangers inside.

What is a safer building? A church, a mosque, a police station, a local shop such as Tesco.

If you are worried about any conversations or behaviours of strangers tell your safer people who can help.

Year 2 Farm Visit

Year 2 will be visiting Northwood Farm. Children will be invited to pet a range of farm animals. The farm visits will be as follows:

· Year 2A Miss Tahir’s class:

Friday 8^th November

· Year 2B Miss Parker’s class:

Thursday 7^th November

There is a voluntary contribution of £4, which will go towards the cost of the visit and transport. The cost of the visit has been subsidised by school.

Please go to parent mail and complete the

consent form, which can be found in the forms section. To pay the £4 voluntary contribution please pay on parent mail by going to payments/shop

The Year 6 residential visit will be to the High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre, Cowling, Keighley, BD22 0AA. This will take place Wednesday 29th January 2025 until Friday 31st January 2025. Those who have completed the consent form and paid the £10 deposit can now pay the balance and are welcome to do this in instalments up to the departure date. Please go to the payment section in payment section in parentmail, then ‘shop’ to make any payments for this.

After school clubs after half term

The after school clubs for autumn 2 term will start the week commencing 4^th November and will be up to the week before we break up for the Christmas holidays. If you wish to book a place you will need to go to parent mail/shop/payments. Places are on a first come first come basis.

Sessions will run after school until 4.15pm each week.

There will be no after school clubs the week commencing Monday 11^th November due to parents meetings taking place.

Weekly Attendance Winners

This term, every week we will be looking at children’s attendance and all those children who have 100% attendance for the week will be put in to a draw to win 10 Dojos. There will be one random winner from each class. To ensure your child is entered into this weekly draw, all you have to do is make sure they are in school on time every day. School Dinners

We have a new school dinners menu (see page 6), which will commence after half term.

A reminder that meal patterns are set per half term and cannot be swapped in between.

If you wish for your child’s meal pattern to change after half term you must email school: office@marlandhill.rochdale.sch.uk no later than Thursday 31st October.

Data Collection

A data collection sheet was sent home with your child last week. Please could you carefully check the information on the form is correct and up to date. If you need to make any changes or amendments please write on the form as clearly as possible and ensure that you sign and date the form.

Please return the form to your child’s class teacher as soon as possible. Thank you.

Parent’s Meetings

Parent meetings will be taking place after the end of the school day and will be held in the School Hall. In order to book an appointment you will need to go to parent mail/parent’s evening to book an appointment. Each appointment will last 10 minutes.

The parents’ meetings will be on the following dates:

· Nursery: Monday 11^th November, Tuesday 12^th November and Wednesday 13^th November.
