Thank you so much to the staff, parents & carers who visited Marland ecoMart on Wednesday. We appreciate your efforts to reduce single use plastic waste. If you have not yet visited, please try and visit in March, the date will be released soon. Once again, School Council were very enthusiastic when running their business! We are all so proud of them.
On Monday afternoon, Y5 and 6 had a careers afternoon. Representatives from First Bus, Dunsters Farm and Trident PT gave a short introduction and description of their role. The children then had time to ask questions related particularly to the pathway that the individual had taken. The children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and the employers responded extremely positively and have asked to take part in further careers projects that we will be running.
As part of their topic on New Life, Reception have been learning about Growth and Change and looking at a range of animals particularly baby animals and how they grow. Reception will be visiting the Smithills Open Farm on Monday 17th March 2025.
School is subsidising the cost of the trip, but we do ask for a parental contribution of £10. This is a voluntary contribution towards the overall cost of the visit.
Please go to Parent Mail and complete the consent form (found in the forms section) and please pay for the visit (payments/then shop).
World Book Day is on Thursday 6th March. This year, the theme is 'Read Your Own Way'. We will be holding a competition where children can design a bookmark and the winners will receive book vouchers.
Children can dress in an outfit they would like to read in e.g comfy clothes or pyjamas. If children prefer to dress as a book character then of course they can choose to do this instead.
There will also be a World Book Day themed dinner, please refer to the menu on page 3.
On the final Friday of last half term, the children in Year 3 visited Manchester Museum as part of their History topic on the ancient Egyptians. The whole day was a huge success but the children particularly enjoyed the chance to see lots of genuine ancient Egyptian artefacts, including a real mummy! The children represented the school incredibly well throughout and have learned a lot from the experience.
