  • Fruit Tasting

    Fri 02 May 2025

In English this week in the HIRB, we were working on using descriptive words and phrases to describe fruits based on the book Handa's Surprise. The children thoroughly enjoyed tasting exotic fruits like passion fruits and guavas. They will use this hands-on experience to write their own version of Handa's Surprise.

  • Scooters

    Fri 02 May 2025

Whilst it is great to see so many children on   scooters at the end of the day, it is becoming   dangerous at times in the playground, and there have been some near miss occasions where adults and children have nearly been hit by a child on a scooter. Please can you ensure your child is well supervised if they use their scooter on the playground, and please encourage them to be mindful of those around them.

    Thank you for your support.

  • Year Group Focus—Year 3

    Fri 25 Apr 2025

As always, the end of the Spring term was an extremely busy period for the children in Year 3. In bringing to a close the moving toys project they had been working on in design technology, the children got the opportunity to turn their plans into reality when they made their own moving Ancient Egyptian mummy. The children worked incredibly hard and produced lots of spectacular final pieces that they were all extremely proud of. The only downside, having to listen to 60 party blowers being blown endlessly throughout the afternoon!

In science, the children have been learning about forces and magnetism and have very much enjoyed the opportunity to take out the magnets and investigate how they work. One of the investigations that the children have carried out looked into the strengths of different magnets. The children were amazed to find that the magnet didn’t have to touch the paper clip in order to move it. This led us into a further investigation into which everyday materials are magnetic and which are non-magnetic. Fair to say that this threw up some surprises around what magnets are attracted to and not.

In PSHE the children have been learning about how to live a healthy lifestyle. They have created a poster with ways to stay healthy.

As part of their work in English, across Year 3, the children wrote character descriptions based on the Clockmaker from the story ‘Guardians Of Magic’. The descriptions that the children created were incredible and a fantastic example of the progress they each of them has made in writing over the course of the year to date. Let’s hope for much more over the coming term!

Entering the new term, the children have created some amazing pieces of homework! Well done, keep up the great work.
