Get active and boss the school run
On foot and by bike travel is much more fun for kids. They love being out in the open air, in any weather. Plus, you get to spend more quality time with them - a few minutes to talk about your day or to spot things en route. It's much more appealing than sitting in a car in crawling traffic. Walking, cycling or wheeling is easily the least faff option at pick up and drop off time - you don't need to find somewhere to park your car, you can just cruise right up to the school gates. Plus, on foot and by bike is the most reliable way to travel as it will take you exactly the same time, every time. You'll feel less stressed and it's so much better for your physical and mental health. Make on foot and by bike travel part of your routine for the school run. You'll be surprised at how good it will make everyone feel.

Arrange a school trip to the Museum of Transport
For a fun and educational day out, why not visit the Greater Manchester Museum of Transport in Cheetham Hill. There’s free admission for school visits on Wednesdays if you pre-book. Groups of up to 30 (including teachers and assistants) can be accommodated.
The museum offers guided tour of up to two hours as part of your visit, which can be tailored to different age groups, and worksheets are available. Several bus routes run to the museum, and it’s just 10 minutes from the Bury line Queens Road tram stop, so you could use the ‘Kid for a Quid’ tram travel offer to get there. You can find out more at the Museum’s website.

This year, we are going to have Reading Ambassadors to promote reading in school. Any children who wanted to apply for the job had to fill in an application and return it to Miss Bingham. The following children wrote the best applications and were appointed to the role.
Y4 - Charlotte and Amelia
Y5 - Maimoona and Hayder
Y6 - Inaya and Roshaan
We keep you updated throughout the year on the work that we are doing to encourage a love of reading.
Attendance remains a core focus for our school this academic year, and we have made many changes to reflect this. Firstly, we have released an updated version of our Attendance Policy ( available on our website - Key Info – Policies - Attendance policy 2025-26) and we encourage you to have a read through this to familiarise yourselves with our procedures. We are also pleased to announce we will be working collaboratively with the national Inclusive Attendance initiative, there will be more details about this released soon.
A reminder that you must tell us if you if your child is not attending school that day and that penalty notices will be issued for term time leave for 5 days or more. Again more details will be issued in due course.
We are excited to share with you a change for our Weekly Attendance Recognition! A child from each class, who has had 100% attendance and punctuality for that week, will be placed into a draw to take home on the Friday for the weekend either a trophy (years 1-6) or a little teddy (nursery and reception) as a reward. This would need to be returned to school on the following Monday.
Please check Parent Mail on a regular basis for the latest news and information. Dinner money is paid on Parent Mail as well as important forms being shared. Thank you for your continued support.
Please may we remind parents that children must always come in their outdoor PE kit on their PE days. Below is the PE Kit Uniform requirements and the days for PE. Thank you for your continued support.
