Last week some of our keen football players from Key Stage 2 took part in a football tournament at the Soccer Factory. The team didn’t lose a game, they played excellently and won the whole tournament.
They then played in the finals on Saturday 19th January at the Soccer Factory. They played really well in their games and they came second overall. Well done boys!
In the second football competition of the week, another of our KS2 football teams took part in a football tournament at the Soccer Factory. The team came third and played really well. Well done team!
Please may we ask parents and carers to be considerate to others when parking outside school. Blocking of the pedestrian entrance is not allowed and is dangerous to those on foot who have to gain access by walking in the road. Thank you for your co-operation.

On Tuesday our Community Cohesion group, along with 8 other pupils from Hamer Primary School, attended an ‘Afternoon with the Mayor’ at the Town Hall. The children were given the opportunity to ask the Mayor a range of questions for the Mayor to answer. The children represented Marland Hill school excellently and they even got a chance to sit in the seats of the Council Chamber!
Please may we ask our parents and carers to be vigilant with children who are using messaging platforms through PS4 and other apps such as Roblox. Parental controls can be set to monitor safety, please ensure that your child is using these safely.
These will commence week beginning 4th February. Mr Hudson’s class will be going on Tuesday afternoons to Heywood Swimming Pool and Miss Wright’s class will be going on Friday afternoons to Rochdale Swimming Pool. Please ensure your child has suitable kit with them on these days every week: A swimming costume/trunks and a towel.
Letters were sent home last week with your child. Please send in your permission slips asap so your child can take part in these lessons.
This term the theme for our Year 4 topic is ‘Romans’ and they have been busy this week creating some very realistic chariots! We are looking forward to some fantastic examples of ‘Roman’ themed homework for our Year 4 pupils!
We have our new schedule of after school sports clubs ready for the spring term! Children may participate in the activity selected for their year group, and clubs are rotated between the year groups throughout the year. All the clubs begin at 3pm and finish at 4:15pm. Please return the reply slip to school to secure your child's place! Your child will need a PE kit in school to take part.
