• Letter from Headteacher regarding Covid Guidelines

  Dear Parents/Carers,   I am writing to you in the unfortunate circumstance that some families are still not following the Government guidance for Covid 19. Please can I ask that all parents work with each other and with school to ensure that this does not continue to happen.  We are nearly 12 months into the global pandemic.  Therefore can I please remind you of the vital information that can ensure that we don’t have to close any more year group bubbles:     Pupils should self-isolate and not come to school if they: Have Covid-19 symptoms or have tested positive Live with someone who has symptoms or has tested positive Are a close contact of someone who has tested positive Have returned to the country and are in a period of 10 day quarantine   Covid 19 Symptoms – any ONE or all of these symptoms High temperature: any new high temperature where your child feels hot to touch on their chest or back A new continuous cough: coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours A loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste   Lateral Flow Tests These tests (which can be carried out at home) should ONLY be used on individuals who have no symptoms (asymptomatic) of Covid 19.  If an individual has any of the symptoms of Covid 19 then a test should be booked at an official test site.  If your child is sent home from school with symptoms of Covid 19, a test should be booked via the gov.uk website or by telephoning 119.   Stay at Home guidance – current Government advice Coronavirus (Covid 19) remains a serious threat across the country. Do not leave your home unless necessary. 1 in 3 people who have the virus have no symptoms, so you could be spreading it without knowing it.   I am sure you are as keen as all our staff and pupils are for children to be in school as much as possible to catch up on all the learning that has been missed.   Thank you to those parents who are doing their best to follow guidance.   Yours sincerely   Mrs Pridgeon Headteacher

• Magic Wand Making

  Year 3 children really enjoyed making Harry Potter wands using paper mache. They had lots of fun!

   

  

• Bikes/Scooters

  Please remember that all bikes & scooters that are left in school should be chained up as school cannot take responsibility for any damage/theft.

   

• Meal Patterns

  Meal patterns will continue to be alternative weeks of hot dinners and grab bags. This week, 15th March 2021:

  Hot Dinners: Years 1, 4 6

  Grab Bags: Years 2, 5

  Reception will continue to have hot meals daily.

   

• Home testing kits available for people in contact with school children

  As part of the government’s roll out of regular testing to support the return to school for all pupils, testing packs for those in regular, sustained contact with school children are now available for collection from the following testing centre locations in the borough:

  • Rochdale - in the car park at Rochdale Leisure Centre, Entwistle Road, Rochdale OL16 2HZ.
  • Middleton - in the marquee on the Market Place Car Park next to Middleton Arena, Old Hall Street, Middleton M24 1AG.
  • Heywood - Heywood Civic Centre, LCpl Stephen Shaw MC Way, Heywood OL10 1LW.

  They can be collected any day 13:30 – 19:00, no booking required. The intention is that more locations are going to be added and we will share details of this once they are known.

  The packs contain 7 tests for use at home and it is recommended that you are tested at least twice a week.

  Any individual who has sustained contact with school children is eligible for these packs, that includes:

  • Households of school children
  • Members of support bubbles
  • Childcare providers
  • Those in related occupations where they come into sustained contact with school children
  •  

  You can still attend regular FAST Testing at one of our many sites across the borough if you do not wish to take up the home testing offer. Find out more at rochdale.gov.uk/FastTesting

  Regular testing is still really important as we continue to live with Covid-19 and the vaccine is being rolled out.

  If anyone has symptoms they must book on to a PCR test by dialling 119 or visiting gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

• Lateral Flow Tests

  Further to the information sent out this week, we have been notified by the Council that only the Heywood and Middleton sites have test kits available, Rochdale are no longer issuing test kits.  Apologies to those of you who made an unnecessary journey to the Rochdale site, and thank you for reporting this to school. Heywood and Middleton sites are open from 1.30pm –7.00pm

• Red Nose Day Friday 19th March

  Wed 10 Mar 2021

  It is Red Nose Day on Friday 19th March. We are asking everyone to join in; including staff! Children can either dress as a superhero, wear red, or wear their own clothes. Please ensure your child comes in comfortable foot wear and warm clothes. Donations of any kind are welcome. Please pass donations to your child’s class teacher. We look forward to seeing lots of different outfits!
