.
We break up today for the February half term holidays today. We hope you all have a lovely break and we hope to see you all back on Monday 27th February.
Please see the letters sent out tonight that confirm which classes will/ will not be in school on Tuesday. This is still subject to change, and we will communicate any changes to you as soon as we are able to.
Children whose classes are closed will be allocated a special attendance code to reflect this, which will not count against their attendance. Children whose classes are in that day will be expected to attend as normal, and will be marked as unauthorised if they are not in. We will follow up any absences in the usual way if we do not hear from parents.
For the children entitled to benefits related free school meals who are not in that day, a grab bag will be sent home on Monday.
Please remember that this is nationally planned strike action, and is not specific just to Marland Hill. It is a national dispute between unions and the government, and not linked to any issues at our school.
A reminder that the Year 6 will be going on the Residential to High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre in Keighley Wednesday 15th February to Friday 17th February . Please ensure you read all of the information that has been sent and if you have any queries then please do not hesitate to contact the school.
On Wednesday please drop your child off at the normal Year 6 door. Labelled medication will need to be handed to an adult and a form needs to be completed and signed. This also applies to the children who go to breakfast club.
Thank you.
Year 2 had a fantastic day at the Fireground! We spoke about The Great Fire of London and impressed the staff with all our brilliant knowledge and vocabulary. We got to hold replica artefacts and even got to shoot water out of the water squirt. In the afternoon we spent some time looking at fire engines from different time periods and even got to sit in a more modern fire engine. After that we had some fun sliding down the fire pole and driving a virtual fire engine.
The staff at Fireground were very impressed with not only our brilliant knowledge about the Great Fire of London but also the children's beautiful manners and fantastic behaviour throughout the day. Well done Year 2!

Reception will be visiting Smithills Farm in Bolton on Wednesday 8th March. The cost of the trip will be £14 per child. This is a voluntary contribution towards the cost of the visit and transport, however if there is not enough money collected the trip will be cancelled. This cost of the trip has been subsidised by school.
Please go to parent mail and complete the consent form (found in the forms section) and please pay for the visit (payments/then shop)
Following the success of this term’s workshops we will be inviting parents in again this term to promote the benefits of positive reading with your child. Parents/carers are invited to attend, tea/coffee will be provided. The dates are as follows:
· Monday 13th February—Year 4
· Monday 27th Feb – Year 6
· Monday 6th March – RANs drop in session
· Monday 13th Match – Year 5
· Monday 20th March Year 4
· Monday 27th March Year 3
Sessions will run 9.00am-9.30am.
As a school, we are working on promoting a love of reading and it would be great to have parents as positive reading role models for the children. We hope to see as many parents as possible.
This term, every week we will be looking at children’s attendance and all those children who have 100% attendance for the week will be put in to a draw to win 10 Dojos. There will be one random winner from each class. To ensure your child is entered into this weekly draw, all you have to do is make sure they are in school on time every day. Thank you for your continued support.
