• Year Group Focus - Year 6

   In PE, Y6 have been working on gymnastics. They have been making up short sequences and this week, have been using the climbing frame to explore different ways of travelling.

   

  In art, as part of their knowledge and understanding of form and 3D work, children are using new techniques: paper and wire sculpture. They sketched plants and flowers to inform their design of the paper and wire sculptures. They have now started to create their sculptures and will finish them by adding embellishments to reflect the detail.

   

  As part of our work on democracy, the children have elected class candidates to put forward to a school election. There are three boys competing to be Head Boy and three girls competing to be Head Girl. The children have worked very hard on their poster campaigns and have written speeches. KS1 have heard the speeches and voted on Monday. KS2 will do this on Friday. We will let you know the results next week. Good luck to all the children involved!

   

  

• Christmas is coming!

  Christmas Jumper Day is Thursday 7th December. All staff and children are welcome to come in their Christmas jumpers.

   

  On Tuesday 12^th December we are holding a Christmas Fair in school. This will take place in the school hall straight after school. Please come to through the school office.

  Everyone is welcome to come!

   

  Nursery and Reception will be having a Christmas concert on Monday 18^th December, more information to follow.

• Tea Bags!

  Disaster at Marland Hill!

  The teachers have ran out of tea bags! Year 2 have investigated which material would make the best tea bag. We have tested tin foil, fabric, plastic bags, paper and tissue paper.

  We think the teachers should make new tea bags out of fabric.

• PE Timetable Reminder

  A reminder of the PE days, which are as follows: Monday Year 5 Tuesday Reception Wednesday Year 1 and Year 3 Thursday Year 2 and Year 6 Friday Year 4   Please may we remind parents that children must always come in their outdoor PE kit on their PE days. Below is the PE Kit Uniform requirements and the days for PE.   Please note that jewellery should not be worn for school as it is a health and safety risk. A sensible wristwatch may be worn and small, plain stud earrings. No hoop earrings.
