• IPLCN Visit - English Instiute of Sport

  Six of our gifted and talented PE children went to Sheffield to visit the English Institute of sport last Wednesday. They took part in boxing, various athletic sessions and then had a tour of the centre. What an exciting and inspiring day! 

• Year 3 Trip to Hollingworth Lake

  Two exciting afternoons were had by Year 3 building rafts and paddling canoes on Hollingworth Lake. Everyone had great fun, learnt some new skills and got a little bit wet! Well done Year 3.

  

• Behaviour on School Grounds

  Please can we remind parents/carers to behave in an appropriate manner on school grounds. Our school is a place where children should feel safe and secure. We, as adults, are role models to the children and need to behave in a calm and sensible manner around them, teaching them the right way to behave. Thank you for your support.

• Parent Drop In

  Our next parent drop in will be on Monday 16th May from 9.00am. These drop in's are a way to give feedback  and help us to make improvements at Marland Hill. • Girl's Football

  Well done to our girls football team in the recent Rochdale AFC tournament. They reached the finals of the of the tournament but lost on penalties. Brilliant effort girls!

• Early Years Visit to Smithills Farm

  Our Nursery and Reception classes had some lovely visits to Smithills Farm last week.  They got to meet, touch and feed some lovely animals.  The sun even shone!!!!

  

• Year 6 Science SATs

  Marland Hill has been selected by The Standards and Testing Agency (STA) to participate in the 2016 science tests. STA has commissioned the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) to carry out these statutory tests.
  
  The tests must take place on a day during the period Monday 6 June to Friday 17 June. A NFER test administrator will carry out the tests in school on an agreed day.  When this date is confirmed we will notify parents.
  
  STA will select up to 10 of our pupils from Year 6 to take part in the science testing and we will be notified who these children are 5 school days before the test date.
  
  All data collected by NFER during this exercise will be provided to STA. The test results will not be used for school accountability or performance tables and will be reported as national data only. Individual results will not be returned to schools or pupils.
   

  As you know, this is an important time for Year 6 children who have all been working very hard throughout the year and will continue to do so to build upon learning in preparation for their SATs.

   

  It would be greatly appreciated if you can continue to support us by making sure that all children are in school on time every day, not only in the week of the SATs tests.

• IPLCN Key Stage 1 Dance Festival

  A number of our year 1 children represented the school at the IPLCN Key Stage 1 Dance Festival this week.  They had a fantastic time and behaved brilliantly!  Well done to all who took part!
