• Reception Phonics Workshop

  We will be running two 'Reception Parents Phonics Workshops' on Tuesday 7th November and Thursday 9th November from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. The workshops will explain the way we teach phonics within school and also provide you with some ideas and games for helping your child with their phonics and reading at home.  Parents can attend any one of the Workshops. Thank you.

• Dojo Dollars

  We have a new reward scheme in school, that has replaced our weekly Dojo Winner Certificates.  Children will now be able to exchange their Dojo points for small gifts from our Dojo shop.  Children can spend their points once they reach 50 points, or they can chose to save them up for a bigger prize.  The Dojo shop will be open every Friday at 2:30pm, and children will need to have their Dojo Dollar signed by their class teacher in order to exchange them.  All points will have to be spent by the end of half term, or they will be lost, and once a child has spent their points, their bubble will be reset.

• Marland Hill Monsters Ball

  On Wednesday 1st November we held our annual ‘Monster Ball'. A fab time was had by all who attended. The costumes were absolutely fantastic—and that also included parents. Thank you!

   

  

• Football Success

  KS1 football team competed in the IPLCN KS1 football competition. The children were excellent and finished runners up at the event. The children were a credit and narrowly missed out on being champions by losing 3-1 in the final. Well Done!

  UKS2 football team are competing in the Rochdale U11s final during half time of Rochdale vs Bristol Rovers football match at Spotland Stadium. Good luck guys!

   

   

  

• IPLCN Netball Tournament

  Our UKS2 children finished runners up in the IPLCN Netball Competition this week, losing narrowly in the final 1-0. The children were fantastic and will continue to work towards further success.

   

  

• School Council Day Out

  Our School Council Members attended an IPLCN activity day at Ashworth Valley recently, along with School Council Members from other schools. All the children involved did an excellent job of representing our school and a good muddy day was had by all!

   

  

• Year 6 to Robinwood

  On Monday 25th September the Year 6 children are going to the Robinwood Activity Centre in Cumbria.  The coach will be leaving Marland Hill at 8.30am prompt and therefore children need to arrive at school no later than 8.00am.  Please bring children into the hall where they will be registered and baggage will be labelled.  Children do not need to bring a packed lunch as they will be provided with lunch on arrival at Robinwood.

  

• Secondary School Admissions Workshop

  We sent a booklet home this week explaining how to complete your child's high secondary school application online.  This must be completed by 31st October 2017.  If you need any help completing your application we are holding a workshop in school next Thursday, 28th September at 2.30pm.
