  • Year Group Focus— Year 1

    Fri 24 Apr 2026

Year 1 have made a great start to summer term. On Monday, the school nurses came in and taught the children all about dental hygiene.

We have started to look at new artist L.S Lowry and Paul Keen in our art lessons and the children tried to replicate their work.

This term we are looking at the Author Nadia Shireen and the children have enjoyed looking and reading her books. We have been reading Billy and the Dragon which the children love. In maths, the children have been learning how to skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s and have been doing amazingly well at this.

The children have also been working hard in phonics lessons with the phonic screening check not long off. We thank you for your ongoing support with your children’s phonics and reading at home.

Last term year 1 went to the post office to send letter home. Hopefully you have all received your letters by now!

  • Fantastic Achievements

    Fri 24 Apr 2026

Florence cut 16 inches of hair off to donate to Princess Trust: a charity which support young people with hairloss conditions and provides the wigs to feel their best. It costs £700 to make and get a wig to the person who is in need. So far Florence has raised £80 and has a target of £700- she is keeping her donation page  open as she is going to grow her hair again and see if she can donate 20 inches this time as long hair is the most requested style  Well done Florence!
