Year 2 have had a great start to the year ! They have thrown themselves right into learning, leaving year 2 staff very impressed
In Autumn 1 we had a history focus, learning about Florence Nightingale and her work in the Crimean War. We looked at all the ways Florence helped to stop disease from spreading and the children enjoyed writing letter as Florence herself in the re English writing, as well as reading books about her. In Autumn 2 we have a Geography focus of the Artic, learning all about the people and animals that live in the North Pole.
In Art we have been looking at a Sculptor called Antony Gormley. We explored the different scales of sculptures, looking at patterns and materials. The children particularly enjoyed looking at one of his famous statues, the Angel of the North. We used clay to make our own sculpture of Florence Nightingale's owl, Athena. We are very much looking forward to making puppets this half term in DT!
Just this week we have been on a school trip and visited Northwood Farm! Year 2 learnt all about what food is made on farms. They got to stroke sheep, watch cows and baby calves and even fed chickens! The children particularly enjoyed milking a pretend cow and finding wildlife on the fields!
A reminder that the car park is for staff and blue badge holders only. Blue badge holder access is for the person or child who has the blue badge only and should display their blue badge on their car.
Thank you for your continued support.
Well done to the following children that have been selected to sit at the Captain’s Table.
