Pupils from our School Council paid their respects to the fallen with their own special remembrance tribute at Rochdale Cenotaph yesterday.
The pupils, who were joined by local veterans and armed forces lead member, Councillor Janet Emsley: laid a wreath, read poetry and paused for a minute’s silence.
The pupils took the time to ask veterans about their time in the forces, what Remembrance Sunday means to them, and life after service.
Councillor Emsley said: “It was a lovely and poignant gesture from Marland Hill Community Primary School to walk from their school to the cenotaph, and take a moment to reflect and remember. The pupils were a credit to the school through their moving poetry, beautifully designed wreath and interesting and informative questions. Lest we forget.”
The children also visited Rochdale Memorial Gardens to pay their respects.
Over the course of this academic year, staff will be running a number of sessions for parents. These sessions will be designed to support parents with different aspects of their child’s education, and will be aimed at the relevant year groups each time. The sessions will cover areas such as maths, phonics and school readiness. We will also continue to run our weekly parent reading workshops, which we really appreciate your support and participation in.
Sessions will be shared in advance via the newsletter, so please keep an eye out. We look forward to seeing you!
