We are planning a Residential visit to High Adventure Activity Centre, in Cowling, West Yorkshire for the current Year 5 children in January 2026 when they will be in Year 6. The trip would run from Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th January, with the children staying over for 2 nights and taking part in 12 outdoor and adventurous activities, such as climbing, abseiling and archery. School would pay for a significant portion of the costs but parents would need to pay £80 to cover the cost of the accommodation and food.
In order to secure a place for your child, a £10 deposit will need to be paid by Friday 9th May. This payment would be refundable if we are unable to go ahead due to low numbers.
If you wish for your child to attend please go to parent mail to complete the consent form and the payment item.
Thank you to all the parents that attended the Eco Shop last week. We raised a total of £74.85. Well done everyone. We look forward to seeing you all at our next Eco Shop.
Thank you.
Well done to Adam and Amelia who attended the awards presentation on Saturday that MP Paul Waugh invited them to. This was so he could present the winners their prizes at Riverside.
When Adam was presented his prize Paul said he was so impressed with the passion that he used to describe the story and how he resonated with the main character.
Adam's entry will also be on display in an exhibition by Rochdale libraries in June.
Every week children that display good manners are chosen to sit at the Captain’s Table for dinner. Well done to the following children that have been selected to sit at the Captain’s Table.

Year 3, 4 and 5 children are invited to go to Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre to take part in hour long sessions in kayaking and paddle boarding. The dates are as follows:
· Year 3 - Tuesday 6th May
· Year 4 - Wednesday 7th May
· Year 5 - Thursday 8th May
The cost of the visit is heavily subsided by school. We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £3, which is to be paid on Parent Mail by going to payments/shop. Please complete the consent form on Parent Mail, which can be found in the forms section.
Just a reminder that the supervision of children is the parent/ carer’s responsibility once the children have been handed over at the end of the day.
There are an increasing number of children playing in the MUGA unsupervised, and there have been occasions where a child has had an accident and been injured.
Year 6 children with permission to walk home should be going home once they have left the building, and not hanging around in the playground after school.
The following children have been awarded ‘Star Reader’ and enjoyed going to the ‘Starbooks’ cafe in the library to enjoy a drink and a treat as their reward. Fantastic!

On Thursday 8th May, Year 4 will be having a visit from the Balestra Living History Project who will be doing a workshop named The Roman Britain Primary History Workshop. This is an exciting opportunity for the children.
On the day the children will be taking part in different workshops led by a Roman expert. They will have the chance to handle Roman artefacts and will be trained like Roman soldiers. The children will have the opportunity to use equipment to create different army formations. The children will also create an interactive timeline. This will be a full day workshop.
School will be subsiding this, but we would appreciate it if you could make a voluntary contribution of £4. This can be done on parent mail by going to parent mail/shop/payments.
