Year 6 have been enjoying using their sewing skills making slippers.

As part of their History topic work on the Victorians this term, Year 6 will be going to Rochdale Pioneers Museum on Wednesday 23^rd October. Children will be walking to the    museum and back with members of school staff, so please ensure your child wears their school uniform and a suitable coat, hat, shoes etc according to the weather.

The children will take part in a workshop as part of the visit so we are asking parents for a voluntary contribution of £2 towards the cost of this. This can be made with the shop section of parent mail.

You will need to complete the consent form and payment item on parent mail. Please complete this as soon as possible.

The children at breakfast club have been

enjoying playing together.

Reading afternoons will take place each Monday afternoon. These sessions will run from 2.30pm – 3.00pm and we hope that you will continue to be able to join us and support children with their reading in school.

This term, every week we will be looking at children’s attendance and all those children who have 100% attendance for the week will be put in to a draw to win 10 Dojos. There will be one random winner from each class.  To ensure your child is entered into this weekly draw, all you have to do is make sure they are in school on time every day.  Thank you for your continued support.

Please can we remind parents/carers to please be mindful when parking around school. Please be mindful about not blocking local residents driveways.

As part of the project, both classes and their ‘link’ class will visit M6 Theatre in Rochdale. Miss Shabir’s Class will be going on Wednesday 6^th November and Miss Ashraf’s class will be going on Wednesday 27^th November. We will watch a performance and take part in a number of workshops led by the actors.

There is a possibility that photographs will be taken at the theatre, and these photographs may be used by the Local Authority, and shared with other schools, including our link school. If you do not wish for your child to have their photograph taken you must inform the school in writing by emailing the school: office@marlandhill.rochdale.sch.uk.

The Year 6 residential visit will be to the High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre, Cowling, Keighley, BD22 0AA. This will take place Wednesday 29th January 2025 until Friday 31st January 2025.

If you wish for your child to attend please go to parent mail to complete the consent form and the payment item. The total cost is £80, which must be paid. A £10 deposit  is required to secure the booking and the remaining can be paid in instalments if needed. The deposit needs to be paid no later than Monday 14th October.
