Welcome back! It is lovely to see you all back and welcome to all our new children, we are really looking forward to getting to know you!
We hope you have all managed to have a lovely summer and are ready for the new school year.
Our Year 6 children had their leavers’ disco this week, they all looked so lovely and we are so very proud of you all! A special thank you to all the staff for their help and support in making this a very special evening.
We would just like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who has purchased from Marland ecoMart. You have truly played your part in saving our environment! Please make sure you visit us in September for your refills! We have currently managed to save 182 containers from waste!
We recently received an email from Lizzie, the lady who leads the eco shop project for the Greater Manchester schools. Please refer to page 8 of the newsletter for more information.
On Wednesday, year 5 went to The Big Dig 3.0 in Rochdale town centre. They worked with archaeologists Dr Colin Elder and Jordan Perris to uncover artefacts. They had to use tools and got extremely dirty! After 2 hours of digging, the children collected many artefacts such as pottery, glass cylinders and parts of a slate roof from over 150 years ago.
They were the only primary school in Rochdale to participate so were very lucky to have this chance! All of the artefacts will be cleaned up and anything worthwhile/historical will be placed in Rochdale Town Hall museum for the public to view. The children were on BBC News, Radio 1 Manchester and will also be in Manchester Evening News next week. Keep your eyes peeled for any other historical artefacts the archaeologists find in their own projects over the next coming weeks.
The children have had a great time at forest school. They did an amazing job listening and joining in with the story. Their fairy houses were fantastic, we are hoping the fairies use them tonight. They also really enjoyed the fairy picnic we had. What a great way to finish off the year in Nursery.
Every week children that display good manners are chosen to sit at the Captain’s Table for dinner. Well done to the following children that have been selected to sit at the Captain’s Table.
