Our Year 6 Children represented Marland Hill at the Young Voices concert at The Manchester Arena as part of the Choir.
The choirs sing with top performing artists from the latest pop stars to classically trained musicians The children worked hard on the lead up to the concert to learn a whole range of dance moves to go with the songs from one of the country’s leading street dance teachers.
The event was fantastic and all the children had an amazing time.
Thank you to all who supported the event.
Thank you to everyone who supported our World Book Week.
Throughout the week all classes looked in detail at a range of David Walliams books and there were lots of fabulous activities going on in classrooms.
The week ended with our special assembly and fancy dress day on the 4th March. As you will see there were some fabulous costumes on display and prizes were given in each class.
Thank you everyone for your support.
Marland Hill were delighted to invite Krazy Cats theatre company to school for a performance of their show, "Cinderella!.
The show was enjoyed by all of our Early Years children and our Hearing Impaired children along with families and Hearing Impaired children from other schools in Preston and Bury.
Krazy Cats theatre productions incorporate sign language making their shows accessible for deaf children and their hearing peers. The show is performed by an integrated company of deaf and deaf-aware practitioners and coupled with the highly visual aspect of their work they engage actively with the audience.
Matthew Moss High School are involved in a community project in Springfield Park. They are going to create a community garden area that promotes the fabulous work that Springhill Hospice does in the community.
We are working with Hopwood Hall Technology Faculty, RMBC, The Friends of Springfield Park and Springhill Hospice.
We have secured a minimum of £8000 worth of funding for this project via the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ Grant Scheme. We have been put forward by Tesco HQ, along with another two local projects, to take part in a public vote at the Tesco store in Sudden (also the mains store in Middleton).
IF YOU MAKE ANY PURCHASES BETWEEN SATURDAY 27TH OF FEBRUARY AND SATURDAY 6TH MARCH, you will be given a blue token to put into one of the three voting boxes.
Please could you put your token in the box marked SPRINGHILL HOSPICE COMMUNITY GARDEN.
We could increase our £8,000 to £10,000 or £12,000.
If you are local, please tell your friends and family. Our local Primary School Partnership are supporting us as well.
Many thanks

We received a very exciting letter from the Queen this week.
Year 1 sent some photos of their project work and designs for Her Majesty to see.
She thanked us for our work and was glad to hear from us. Her Majesty also sent us some information about where she lives and what her day is like.
It was lovely to get a reply from such a busy lady.
Thank you to everyone who came to the Pirates and Princesses disco tonight! There were lots of fabulous costumes and some amazing dancing going on!
We hope you all had a lovely night.
As you all know, we value your feedback and contribution to continue to make improvements at Marland Hill. I am delighted to have been approached by a number of parents asking how they can play a more active role in school life. If you feel you could contribute or have any ideas please come along on Monday morning 8th February at 9.00am for a coffee and a chat. I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
