The children who excelled in the Upper KS2 Football Academy were chosen to represent the school at the IPLCN Football Competition at the Soccer Factory on Monday this week.
The children began well winning their first game of 2-0 against Greenbank. The next game was closer with a 2-1 win against Stanley Road Primary before dispatching St Andrews 4-0. This meant going into the last game the children were guaranteed a position in the semi-finals, but this did not stop them finishing with a 2-0 victory over Hamer
SEMI FINAL
Going into the semi-final against Moorhouse, the game was very close. The children heavily controlled the game before an error by the Moorhouse goalkeeper meant Marland Hill went on to win 1-0.
THE FINAL
The final was against Heybrook which started well shooting from long distance with every oppotuinty. Owen made two fantastic saves before one long range shot was too good and Heybrook led by one goal. The children continued to pass and move the ball around before the ball fell to Alli who finished in style to take the tie to penalties. Both sides scored all three penalties which took the game to sudden death. Marland continued to play well then Owen saved a Heybrook penalty which brought further success to Marland Hill.
The children were fantastic together and deserve every minute of their success. Patrick was voted star man by the children.
Well done!
