Year 3
Throughout the term, we have been working hard studying the ancient Egyptians and as part of our work in Art we have created some spectacular pieces of foil art. To do this, we firstly designed our very own Egyptian style god or goddess to be the focal point of our final product. We then used what we have learned about the artist Friedensreich Huddertwasser to design and decorate the background. We think the final results are pretty amazing! What do you think?
Through our work in History and English, we have looked at the process of mummification and considered why the ancient Egyptians mummified their dead. To help us to understand the different stages of this incredible process we ‘mummified’ our own salad tomatoes using salt and baking soda instead of natron salt. The results were, as predicted, surprising as the tomatoes that we had preserved came out of the salt looking almost brand new. Whereas the tomato that wasn’t preserved was left as a slimy, horrible mess in the bottom of the container.
