Together we will achieve more!

Year Group Focus:

Hearing Impaired Resource Base

During our Deaf Identity sessions this half term we have been talking about different sounds- loud sounds, quiet sounds, high sounds and low sounds. We have also been looking at the different parts of the ear (outer, middle and inner) and have created our own model ear drum to test with loud sounds. We used sounds of different pitches and frequencies to see if we could get our model ear drums to vibrate. Then we made a model cochlear using clay. Did you know that the cochlear is the same size as a pea?

We have also been learning all about the anatomy of the ear, including the parts of the ear and how these work. We used food to replicate the different parts and made our own ‘edible ear’. The children loved it!
