We are thrilled to be back in school after the half term and we are working harder than ever. Its amazing to see how grown up the children look at this time of the year and how ready some of them are for moving on to their next year group.
In Spring 2 we had a history focus, looking at Rochdale and how it has changed over the years. We enjoyed looking at how Marland Hill has changed over the years and comparing it to Brimrod school which is a relatively old building. The children enjoyed looking at how uniforms, classrooms resources and rules in schools have changed over time and discussing how schools these days seem a much nicer place to be.
In art we have been looking at comparing Lowry and Paul Klee. We looked at exploring shapes, patterns and features within buildings. The children experimented with different printing techniques, they used painted blocks to print with and then drew their own picture of Rochdale Town Hall, which they then drew onto a Styrofoam tile and printed. Look at our amazing work!
Our topic for this half term is a geography focus, answering the question ‘Where would I visit on a trip to London?’. We will be looking at the United Kingdom and famous landmarks in each of the 4 countries, the capital cities and then focusing more in depth on London.
