On Monday, the HIRB had a visit from Joanne Smith, an advisory Teacher of the Deaf, who works at the Yorkshire Auditory Implant Service in Bradford.
The children completed a listening workshop, which focussed on labelling the different parts of the ear and discussing how sound travels through the ear. They talked about their cochlear processors, highlighting each part. Then, they used play-doh to create their processors and add these to their diagrams. Additionally, they spoke about their hearing loss and how it looks on an audiogram (a graph that shows the results of a hearing test).
