Our Art topic this half term is 'Landscapes'. We started off by looking at the work of David Hockney. The children produced a double page spread in their sketchbook looking at the techniques that he used and giving their opinion on his art work.
In Design and Technology, we have completed our work on Anderson Shelters. The children planned and made their own individual shelters. They measured and cut wood for their frames and joined the wood using hot glue guns. The children then used corrugated card to cover their frames and decorated them in the style of WW2 Anderson Shelters. Once the shelters were completed, the children evaluated these against the design criteria by testing if their models were waterproof and able to withstand a weight being dropped on it.
This term in computing, the children will be using the program Tinkercad to develop their understating of using a computer to produce a 3D shape. Initially, the children will develop their understanding of working in a 3D space, moving and resizing objects. Following this, they will create objects using placeholders and combine multiple objects to create a model of a desk tidy.
