Does your child have a new or urgent eye problem?
MECS/CUES provides accessible NHS-funded assessment for children and adults with new or urgent eye problems.
This can include:
- Red, painful or irritated eyes
- Sudden changes in vision
- Flashes or new floaters
- Eye discomfort or other new eye concerns
You don't necessarily need to wait for a routine eye test or contact your GP.

Our team will ask about your child’s symptoms and, where appropriate, arrange a MECS/CUES appointment.
Appointments are available most days, including Saturdays.
The service can provide assessment and advice, and if further treatment or specialist care is needed, you will be advised on the appropriate next step.
